Toulouse coach Alain Casanova is certain that his side will not make the same mistake again after the Frenchman criticised his side for their approach in last week’s encounter against already-relegated Arles-Avignon.
Arles won that game thanks to a goal by Kamel Ghilas, only the second win of the season for the league lagers. For Toulouse, the defeat has now left them just three points above the dreaded relegation zone with only two games left in the season.
Toulouse now have a great chance of moving further away from the danger zone when they host a resurgent Bordeaux side at Parc Municipal des Sports. Bordeaux are one of the in-from teams of the Ligue 1. Les Girondins defeated Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday.
Ahead of the game, Casanova said that his squad knows that the players made a lot of mistakes against Arles. Worst still, the players took to the field with the wrong attitude.
"The squad knows that it made a mistake at Arles, a mistake in the result but especially in attitude. We didn't know how to show the right attitude for such an important match,” said the former Toulouse goalkeeper. While talking about his side’s chances
of avoiding the drop, Casanova said that his side should win the last two games in order to survive, as the current situation of the bottom half of the Ligue 1 table is tricky to say the least.
Meanwhile, Eric Bedouet, caretaker boss of Bordeaux, says that his side still needs to win the remaining two games. Even though Bordeaux are in 8th position with 48 points, two defeats in the remaining two games could still prove disastrous for
the club that was very close to the relegation zone a few months back.
Bedouet said that he is taking the last two games as two cup finals, “The situation remains the same. A good victory, it’s great, but we will stay on guard. We’re going to meet a team that is playing for its life, a very physical team that should not be
where they are right now.” He concluded.
