Toulouse midfielder Etienne Capoue attracting interest from Paris-Saint Germain, Barcelona and Schalke 04
Reports in French media suggest that ambitious Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain and reigning European champions, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Toulouse-FC-c40751 13 million Euros for the services of highly-rated French midfielder Etienne Capoue.
The 22-year-old midfielder signed a contract extension with Toulouse on February 9, 2011 which would keep him at the Stade Municipal until 2015. However, it appears that signing an extension hasn’t sealed the youngster’s future at the Ville Rose.
French media claims that the highly-rated defensive midfielder is already courted by some of the biggest clubs in Europe. German Bundesliga side Schalke 04 have already made an eight million Euros bid for the talented player.
The competition for winning the youngster’s signature seems to be getting tougher each day and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Royal-95-c40387 Blues Horst Heldt is not ready to give up just yet after his first bid for the youngster was rejected.
According to the German, two other clubs also tabled Toulouse offers for the player. While talking to Gelsenkirchen-based newspaper Der Westen, Heldt said, “PSG have offered 13 million Euros and Barcelona have also offered the same amount but Toulouse refused.”
However, Heldt is not backing out and is willing to make another bid for the defensive midfielder. However, with Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona now turning their direction towards the Frenchman, Schalke should be in form a fight in order to sign Capoue.
Paris-Saint Germain are already in the market for a new defensive midfielder following the recent retirement of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Blaise-Matuidi-c7681 who is currently under contract
at fellow Ligue 1 outfit Saint-Etienne.
Barcelona on the other hand are in no http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Javier-Mascherano-c18071 which means that the Catalans might be considering the youngster as a backup to the two.
Schalke are in the market for a new defensive midfielder and have been linked with a possible move for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfB-Stuttgart-c40879 defensive midfielder Christian Trasch.
Though it still remains to be seen where the youngster would be heading this summer, the Capoue has proven himself to be one of the best young defensive midfielders in Ligue 1 and a move to a new club should help him a lot in earning him his first senior
team cap for the French national side.
