Tounge pirceing for kids????

Question

2 weeks ago i was staanding in line with my 13 year old son waiting to get him inside the skating place before i left him ( im a protective mom) but as i was waiting there i overheard this lady talking behind me about her sons tounge being sore. i turned around and her SIX YEAR old boy had his tounge pierced! i wanted to give her a good smack but i minded my own, i know that it is her kid but isnt that going overboard?

It's ever odder the place let the kid's tounge get pierced...

The mom could have done that, which, if you do it wrong, you can puncture something on your tounge and die.

That is ridiculous, wow, i would of smacked that women! he was only 6, i would never allow that, i would consider it maybe around 17 but still i would try to talk them out of it,

Yeah, that is just bad parenting!  I have my tongue pierced, but i am 27, and i have it for "other reasons."  some people just are bad parents!

I'm surprised a tattoo/piercing parlor would even pierce a 6 year old.

That is unbelievable! How irresponsible of that boy's mother! I remember in the second grade when one boy had his left ear pierced and that was already considered wild. That mother should be ashamed of herself. She'll find out that the piercing doesn't make her son "cool," it just makes her look like a horrible parent and him sound like he can't talk right. hmph.. some people.

I'm shocked that any piercing place would agree to pierce his tongue, in the first place. I am definitely not okay with my kids having piercings at 6 years old.

His mother need to know that it's dangerous to do that to her son.. well wonder why his mother want him to pierced his tongue anyway...

If i was the mother i would never allow it. it's just terrible, i recommend 17-18 years old to pierced they tongue. (i never pierced the tongue before but I'm sure its hurts a lot~~)

Believe it or not, it could be worse.  In the Maori culture, pubescent boys have (or at least used to have) their penises ritually ripped open full length -- permanently -- as a sign of manhood!  In another South Pacific culture, the custom is to have boys pierce their own t******e all the way through with a bamboo sliver!  Then there are the African tribes were 6 inch disks inserted in earlobes are the "fashion."

Which isn't to say that I approve of tongue piercing at ANY age, or any other facial piercing.  Just that a lot of things are relative.

It was right not to say anything.  No matter how awful we all think it is...correction, how awful we KNOW it is, he is her child.  Some jerk in Walmart chastised me once for not getting my baby to stop screaming when I was checking out, it didn't cause me to do anything different, it just made me want to I pummel the guy.  I can't believe any shop would pierce a child's toung though...reputable or not.  I would think this could be considered child abuse.
