Tour De France, End of the 8th stage
Tour de France has never been an easy challenge for any cyclist in the world. This year it has become even tougher as the weather is not friendly for the cyclists and it is giving a very strong challenge for the best bicycle racers of the world. The track is getting harder and it is not an easy task to fight against the conditions of hot and humid weather and toughness of race at the same time. A total of 3,642 kilometre of distance is not going to be an easy pill to swallow for the riders participating in the race.
Tour de France has entered into its 9th stage. The race is divided into 20 stages so it is still a long way to go. The 8th stage of the race has been finished and Andy Schleck is the man from Luxemburg who took the lead in the stage. Andy finished the 8th stage in 4 hours 56 minutes and 11 seconds. It was a tougher day for all and the race is getting tougher and tougher with the coming time as the racers will have to pedal their way through the Alp mountain ranges. Andy showed his remarkable stamina and fitness on the second day of the 8th stage. Still ninth stage is the toughest because a cyclist will have to pedal through higher and harsher Alp mountain ranges.
After Andy Schleck, Samuel Sanchez was the second man who finished the 8th stage course in 4 hours 54 minutes and 11 seconds, followed by Rober Gensink with the finishing time of 4 hour 54 minutes and 21 seconds. Lance Armstrong finished at the number of 61 with the time of 5 hours 05 minutes and 56 seconds. This race is not being friendly to him. The seven times Tour de France champion Lance is suffering from various injuries as his days of pride and glory are over he is very well aware of the fact that this 8th addition of the event is not for him. All the hopes of the seven times winner have shrunk as it is now not possible for him to come back at all. Lance who used to shatter his rivals into pieces has passed his glory era from 1996 to 2005 and this is the last tour of the legend to France.
The overall standings of the prestigious Tour de France are quite expected as Cadel Evans is still leading the race with the total time of 37 hours 57 minutes and 09 seconds. Cadel is followed by Andy Schleck with the time of 37 hours 57 minutes and 29 seconds. The Spanish super star and event’s Favourite Alberto Contador is at the 3rd spot with the time of 37 hours 58 minutes and 10 seconds. Jurgen Van den Broeck with the time of 37 hours 58 minutes and 12 seconds is at the 4th spot. 5th spot is occupied by Dennis Menchov with a time of 37 hours 58 minutes and 19 seconds. At the sixth place Ryder Hesjedal is pedalling his cycle with the time of 37 hours 58 minutes and 20 seconds. Roman kreuziger with the time of 37 hours 58 minutes and 54 seconds is at the 7th place. While Levi Leipheimer is at the 8th, Samuel Sanchez and Micheal Roger are pedalling at 9th and 10th spot respectively with a very little difference of time.
Lance Armstrong is still struggling with his pace and is on the 39th position in the overall standings with the time of 38 hours 10 minutes and 35 seconds. The race is still on and riders and struggling hard to pound each other with their stamina and nerves. It’s still a long way to go and the title of Tour de France will go to the person who will fight through all the difficulties manly with a victorious passion and devotion.
