Tomorrow is the final day in the Alps and it takes in three hors catégorie climbs including the most famous - Alpe d'Huez.

Who do you think will win the stage 17? And who will end the day in yellow?

  1. Watching Team CSC ride today, I wouldn't be surprised if they made a breakaway at the start of Alpe d'Huez. They didn't look fatigued or beat down in anyway today and between the Frank, Andy, and Carlos they have the strength to open the gap up and give Frank a better lead going into the  final TT.

For the day, I wouldn't be surprised to see Menchov go with an earlier break away and a possible stage win, but not by enough to become a threat to Schleck.

  2. What's with the Cricket idiots?

I predict Dennis Menchov to take Alpe d'Huez.

And Cadel will probably make up the time in the ITT :(

  3. Stage 17 is probably the toughest to call.  I like Schleck or Sastre, only because they have the support of the best team in the Tour. And Valverde, I have know idea!!! One day looks like Superman next day like Pee Wee Herman.

I don't see Evans winning the stage unless everyone else breaks on the climb up Alpe d'Huez, but I believe he is in the best position to win it all.  With Vande Velde now over 3 minutes out, and probably more tomorrow, he is no longer a threat to Evans in the time trial.  If Evans can put himself a few more seconds ahead of Menchov, I believe the Tour is his to lose.

  4. oh mr. menchov, why did you descend like a feather today? alright well yea we'll look for the usual names, the schlecks, sastre evans kohl and menchov.. they'll attack eachother on the last climb. for two reasons- its l'alpe d'huez and the winnner could likely take the yellow jersey.

but since i have to....Menchov will win.(aside from any unlikely breakaway winning) again my pick. for the reason of today he lost around 30 seconds and now is over a minute behind. if he wants to win anything this year, he will have to make his move tomorrow on 17. at this point he has nothing to lose except some sweat. this is the last mountain stage and really the only other day to make up time along with the time trial, which he wont make up alot of time if any on EVans. im really pulling for menchov this year.

    2. Schleck will be in yellow. , he might not be too far behing the winner if he doesnt win himself.

on a side note, did anyone see that guy from barloworld crash? hahaha his bike went all the way into the valley haha.

  5. No doubt about it... Ian Bell

He's superman! He could easily win the Tour De France if he tried :)

  6. Actually Michael Vaughan

He was a budding cyclist until the age of 4

  7. this is  a long shot, but i thing damiano cunigo (sp?) is saving up for this stage.

  8. Look for Cadel Evans to regain the yellow.  As an American, I have to root for Christian VandeVelde to get back some time that he lost today, but admittedly, he's a longshot.
