Tour De Pologne 2012 to run parallel with the Tour de France this year
The 2012 version of the biggest cycling race in Poland, Tour De Pologne is scheduled from July 10-16th 2012. It is for the first time in the history that the race will run alongside the Tour de France.
The event is a good option for the cyclists not participating at the French Grand Tour but it will also miss out some of the top cyclists whose season is built around the Tour de France.
Race Organiser Czeslaw Lang has revealed that the Tour De Pologne this year will feature more mountains and will be the toughest edition of the race till now.
The tour was under the impression of being too easy as rated by the cyclists. Czeslaw claims that the race this year will be the toughest so far.
He noted, "Again this year the route will cover the southern central part of the country, which is where there are the most mountains, we would always like to bring the race to all the cities".
"We always have a lot of requests and this makes us very happy, but unfortunately it isn't possible, Poland has a vast territory; this is why we try to rotate, edition after edition, to try to touch as many different areas of the country as we can," Lang concluded.
Tour De Pologne features a single time trial, one ‘queen stage’ and several flat stages throughout its history.
The ‘queen stage’ is the most difficult stage of the race, which decides the final winner of the race.
The peaks of Zakopane and Bukowina Tatrzanska have been included in the coming edition of the race with a number of new mountain top finishes.
Organisers are optimistic that the 2012 version of the Polish stage race will receive an immense support from the cyclists and the supporters across Poland.
They are optimistic that the inclusion of the tougher stages in the race will make the competition more interesting.
The Polish race will began on July 10th in Karpacz and will finally conclude on July 16th after a gruelling distance of 1100 kilometres across the country.
Cyclists will cover the exhausting seven stages across the most beautiful and thrilling mountainous ranges in Poland.
