Question:

Tour de France, worth the effort?

Will there be a team or individual who will step up to the plate (so to speak) to redeem the Tour? Getting a little tired of the scandals, and there is a need for a NON PARTISAN, TOTALLY INDEPENDENT anti doping oversight body to enforce the policies. Not betting on anyone specific until the end, that is officially.

  1. The only way to clean up cycling is to make the punishment for doping so severe that no one would dare risk having a positive test. Lifetime suspension.

Agree with you about the oversight body. Labs should be independent too and not know which sample is from which rider so it doesn't become a popularity contest.

Right now the Tour de France is a joke.

  2. I appreciate you are commenting about cycling, but ALL sport is riddled with drug abuse, cycling is the whipping boy, give headlines to cycling "junkies" and nobody will notice the others, seems to be the story. 'Operacion Puerto', the biggest sports drug scandal ever, involved over 200 athletes/sportsmen, 56 were cyclists, most of whom were named and most were acquitted, the remainder, footballers and tennis players, have never been named, the reason is almost certainly because cycling is not a big money sport like football and tennis, so cycling becomes the fall guy!

The sport of cycling is at least making the effort to actively eliminate drugs from the cycling world, what exactly are the others doing ?
