Tour de France 2013 is Marcel Kittel’s biggest goal of the season

Marcel Kittel of Team Argos-Shimano had a successful 2012 season and the cyclist is hoping to make maximum use of his extreme form in the season ahead.
He has noted that the Tour de France 2013 will be his ultimate goal as he believe that the coming edition of the French Grand Tour suit his abilities and is ideal for the sprinters.
“The big goal will be the Tour again because I think there are number of chances for the sprinters. I'll have a similar build up to the Tour as I did this year too," Kittel told Cyclingnews.
"At the moment the Tour is a long way off but when I think about it, it will probably feel like doing my first Tour”.
“This year I was racing like a zombie and just wasn't myself. Hopefully it will be totally different next year".
"It was a hard experience missing out but there's nothing I can change about that now".
The German marked his Tour de France debut in 2012 but had to face the disappointment after he was forced to abandon the race because of illness.
After having several victories in the first half of the season, he was one of the most in-form sprinters at the race.
Kittel opened his 2012 winning account with a first place finish at the Scheldeprijs and followed it with the top podium finishes at Omloop van het Houtland and Münsterland Giro.
He bagged multiple stages at the Ster ZLM Toer, Tour of Oman, Eneco Tour, and the Tour de I’ Eurometropole 2012 along with an overall victory at the Ster ZLM Toer.
The 24-year old also claimed a stage each at the Etoile de Besseges and the Three Days of De Panne 2012 after his heroic performance at both the events.
Marcel is aiming to team-up with John Degenkolb to form a deadly sprinting attack in this year’s Tour de France, after noticing Degenkolb storming form at the Giro d’Italia 2012 that won him five stages at the race.
Kittel has decided to miss the Giro stating that he is not prepared to ride two Grand Tours in one season but he is keen to ride the classics with a positive start at the Santos Tour Down Under.
