Tour de France organisers disappointed after the spectators threw nails during the stage 14 of the race
Tour de France organisers are finding it difficult to locate the suspects that caused disturbance during the stage 14 of the event.
The race Director Christian Prudhomme discouraged the action and cited that the circumstances could have been even worst.
He also encouraged the staff efforts to minimise such events in an event which extends up to three weeks with over three thousand kilometres of racing involved.
"It's very rare, but particularly dangerous. I can only condemn it as a stupid act," he noted
It has been reported that a few spectators threw nails on the track which resulted in a crash and as many as 30 punctures as briefed by the Race Director, Jean-Francois Pescheux while talking to AFP.
Despite all the setbacks, Luis Leon Sanchez was one man who held himself together and registered a much needed victory for his side, Team Rabobank.
The Dutch side has not secured any wins in the first two weeks of the French race and Team Management was over the moon after Leon’s remarkable show.
He managed to overcome the in-form Peter Sagan and registered the fourth Tour de France win of his career.
Pescheux appreciated Team Sky and Bradley Wiggins for his admirable performance throughout the Tour de France.
"Sky immediately stopped the pack so that everyone could finish in the best conditions".
"Sky were very sporting, they slowed things down and everything returned to order."
Robert Kiserlovski of Team Astana who had been a terrific performer in the race also became a victim during the stage 14.
Janez Brajkovic flatted during the stage 14 of the race as Robert went to help his team-leader and crashed in the effort and is most likely to damage his collarbone.
"Brajkovic had a flat tire just after the last climb," Leipheimer said.
"Kiserlovski moved from left to right to give him his wheel and I couldn't avoid the collision. I hit him and I crashed. I feel bad for him, but it was an accident".
Wiggins currently leads the stage 14 classifications with a healthy lead of 2 minute and 5 seconds over his team-mate Christopher Froome.
Team Liquigas-Cannondale cyclist Vincenzo Nibali is holding the third position and is still in contention for an overall victory at the French race.
