Hey, these guys KNOW they're gonna get tested.

Why do they even THINK about using stuff like EPO?

I just don't get it.....

  1. first of all it is a very intense race and some of them

ight just buckle under pressure and feel there is no other way. and usually they try to use a new form of doping that will come up undetected on the test.

  2. There isn't a simple answer to that question.

Everyone always blames the riders, but forgets the unbelievable pressure they're under to perform.  The teams get pressure from the sponsors for results or they won't renew their sponsorships.  And a team without a sponsor doesn't get very far. So the riders get pressure from the teams to perform or they won't renew their contracts.

Most sponsors and teams don't really care about the doping...  as long as the riders don't get caught that is.  They  just want results and are perfectly willing at a minimum to look the other way (and in some cases actually encourage and assist the riders in doping).

So the riders are in a predicament... either they dope (as they believe most other riders are doing) and take the chance of getting caught, or they don't dope... don't turn in good results... and in turn are unable to get a contract for not performing.

    It's a vicious circle.

  3. they went brain dead from the drugs dude. i dont know even what theyre thinking. i feel bad for the commentators at le tour because they are giving them praise and then the next day they are considered criminals. so paul and phil look bad and they now have to question if they should praise a rider, cuz they might turn up drugged the next day.

i dont get it either. sucks.

to the person above yea they ffeel they have to but lets weigh it out. if they take drugs they are risking their credibiity and honor and if they dont dope how many of them will actually win or will make them superhuman? not very many. beltran wasnt gonna do shiit. he can work for his team with/without the need for drugs. ricco, well he is just a fa.g haha im glad i didnt like him from the beginning anyway

  4. It's got to be a very tough sport.Climbing those Mts. would not be my bag.But they are brain dead as in any sport. Some idiot always has to get ahead by cheating.I'm so glad that they have finally started to ck them more often.Anyone caught should be kicked out of their prospective sport forever,no excuses.

They were given a gift and they blew it.Bye-bye

  5. Yes, they are absolutely bananas if they think they can get away with it!

Drugs testing in cycling is now so high profile that to attempt to use them will lead to certain doom.

There are many other sports where drugs use is far more prevalent but testing isnt so rigorous and results are often 'swept-under-the-carpet'!

Cycling has taken the 'zero tolerance approach' - in order to stamp it out!  It's a shame that the good guys are 'Tarred by the same brush'!

Riders who try to cheat under the current climate are complete Muppets and deserve to be Snubbed!

    EDIT: Thanks Silver'.

  6. i don't know.  i can see why you would want to be the best and feel like if you could just do it once it might help or something but....bad idea.  it's probably hard to understand unless you have been in a position like that, regardless of what you did (or didn't do!)

  7. Have to be brain dead.  I can, with some ignorance, tolerate someone like Manual Beltran who is in his last years on the Tour at 38 yrs old, attempting to take something just to help him finish the race.  Riccardo Ricco, on the other hand, is a jerk.  I was beginning to like him and on some answers and my blog http://tourdefarce2008.blogspot.com I felt that he could be the next Lance Armstrong. At 20 years old he has  the raw talent to win mucho many Tours.

He still may.  He will only be 23 yrs old when he comes off of a two year suspension, but he will forever have this cloud over his head and will NEVER be compared to Lance.

  8. I understand the pressure and the temptation,  but please.

Just give Mr. G best answer - he said pretty much what I would have.

I'll just add that I'm pissed there are still a few that think they can get away with it, but I'm impressed by the swift justice when they catch somebody.

  9. I am so pissed that Ricardo Ricco took cera! how could he be so dumb. like you said, they know they're going to be tested, you have to be the dumbest person ever to even considering doing that.
