Tour de france 2008?

Question

I live near one ofthe stages of the tour de france this year (cuneo) and I was hoping someone could give me a run down of the teams and favorites this year - things I should know so that when I see them ride by I'll have a better idea of whats going on and who is who. All I know is that Cadel Evans came second last year (i'm an aussie) and that Lance Armstrong was a superfreak of the tour de france, and floyd Landis got his title stripped because of drug allegations - not a lot to build on, I know!

Now that that has been said, just browse over news papers and the Internet, you will find a lot of up to date reports and stories to make you and "expert". TV and radio coverage will come along too as the date of the tour grows near.

Get a copy of Bob Roll's Tour De France: Companion from the last couple of years.  He's a loon, but he is a very knowledgeable loon.  Along with Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwen, he's one of the English-language commentators every year.

Search for "tour de france" on the web for several good sites. They have the teams, route etc. Also, tune in to the TV coverage before your stage. Both sources will provide you with a lot of info so you can be an informed spectator.
