Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix are the next two big goals for Tom Boonen
Tom Boonen is probably one of the most successful cyclists in the 2012 season, considering the amount he has secured already.
The cyclist is now warming up for the Tour of Flanders, a race he won in 2005 and 2006. Boonen finished the race at the fourth position in the most recent version and missed the podium by a narrow margin.
His only two victories in the past season came during the first stage of the Tour of Qatar and the overall victory at the Gent-Wevelgem.
Tom started the 2012 season on a totally different note. His first win came at the Tour of Qatar where he grabbed an overall victory.
The Belgian also grabbed the point’s classifications along with the first and the fourth stage victories at the race.
He also registered an overall victory at the E3 Harelbeke, Gent-Wevelgem and finished second during the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad 2012.
Tom also claimed stages at the Tour de San Luis and the Paris-Nice to help his team with a perfect 2012 start.
His victories at the E3 Harelbeke and the Gent-Wevelgem came at a perfect time, just ahead of the Tour of Flanders.
The cyclist will now ride his home event with a lot of confidence and is certain to register his third win at the race.
While commenting at the Tour of Flanders he noted, "You have to forget everything you've won before and try to race the best way you can".
He further added, "It doesn't really matter how many races you have already won as it all depends on Sunday. We've got a good team which is ready to ride a good Ronde van Vlaanderen".
His second major goal of the current season is Paris-Roubaix scheduled on April 8th. Boonen’s last victory at the French event came in 2009.
"It's one of the two most important races of the season. I would really like to win, If you talk to the foreign guys they find it hard to understand why there’s that much attention, so much media coverage about one single race," Tom concluded.
The 96th version of the Tour of Flanders is scheduled on April 1st and the cyclists from across the globe are gathering to dominate at the eights biggest race of the season.
