  1. well I am from Italy and as my name you could guess where i was born and raced. I think first of all you have to decide what part of Italy you'd like to visit North or South,  you can't do both!!! Than  also depends on what season you're making the trip. There are many cities that you don't want to see in winter as some you can't see in summer time. I could give you more details, maybe if you write me.

  2. Why not visit a good travel agent? They'll know who has a quality product and who doesn't.

Stay away from tours that try to see the entire country in a short time. It's ridiculous. There is so much to see and do in Italy, it is pointless to take a trip that spends two days in one city, one in another, etc.  You spend the entire time riding around on busses but you never get to experience the country, the food, or the culture. You may as well just rent a video.

  3. Having been to Italy several times I can say with out a doubt that Perillo Tours is a great option.  You will stay in 4 and 5 star hotels in the best parts of town, which allows you to walk to most tourist spots and shopping during your free time.  As part of the package you also get two meals a day which includes wine with your evening meal.  The breakfast was much more then I expected.  Another huge perk is that you get right to the front of the line at the major attractions.  When we were in Venice the line to get into St. Marks Basilica was two blocks long, and we got right in.  When we went to the Vatican museum, the "normal" line was close to a two hours wait, but we got in after about 15 minutes.  Also, Perillo uses local guides that join you for the day in the major cities.  These are people who live there, speak good English and know the history of the city and attactions.  They also take care of getting you all of your tickets and passes to the sites, which is included in the package price.  When traveling you are in a wonderful bus with AC.  When we sat down to figure the price of the tour had we gone on our own, stayed in the same hotels, and ate at the same resaturants, the cost was easily double what Perillo charges so I would say that it is a very good value for a first class tour.  My wife and I had so much fun on the tour that we have decided, along with several of our new friends that we met on the tour, that we want to take another Perillo tour of Italy again in a couple of years!  We are even going to try and work things out so that all of us can be on the same tour together.

I know there are a LOT of companies that offer tours, and we saw a ton of them as we were taking our tour, but I don't think that any of them would offer any better value then Perillo does.

    Hope this helps!
