Manchester City’s Yaya Toure believes that his team needs to win their upcoming game against Manchester United, or they would be ruled out of the title race once and for all.
City and United are set to take on each other in the Premier League, in a game that is going to be real test for both the teams.
United are currently sitting three points ahead of City, but a win for the blue side of Manchester could see them go on and claim the top spot in the league, based on goal difference.
Toure has now gone on to admit that City have been given a very rare opportunity to redeem themselves and that it is now or never for the team to prove just how good they can be.
The midfielder admitted that his side needed to win their game at the Etihad at all costs and a loss or a draw would result in United winning the league this season.
When taking about the title race and just how weird the season has been, Toure is quoted to have said:
"I don't know how the title race will finish or who will be champions but I haven't changed my mind, we have played a lot better than United this season.”
"I didn't expect the derby to be so decisive in the title race. Both us and them could have wrapped it up by now but in the end this will be the decisive match, and that makes things a lot more exciting.”
"These last months have been sort of a roller-coaster, we had a big advantage and then we saw ourselves waiting for United to fail. Now we have regained our hope. That's why we can't afford not to win the derby."
City have already beaten United by six goals to one earlier in the season and should the team manage to repeat that performance, they would easily go on and claim the Premier League crown, given the matches that are to follow the derby.
It is now a wait to see just who ends up picking up the three crucial points from the Manchester derby.
