Manchester City’s Yaya Toure has been awarded the African player of the year award for the second year in a row, as the player is regarded to be the best footballer from the continent for the time being.
Over the last two seasons, Toure has been putting in some brilliant performances for Manchester City, and these performances seem to be good enough to land him the title.
This past season, Toure played a crucial role in Manchester City’s hunt for the Premier League trophy, as he was regarded to be one of the best players on the team. Many feel that the team would not have been able to claim the title, had it not been for
Toure, City might not have been able to push through in the last few games of the season to claim the title.
Toure won the award ahead of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-Song-c4804, both of whom who happened to have rather decent seasons themselves.
“This night is so special for me,” Toure said after receiving the prestigious award.
“Thanks to all of you. Even my captain is here today. Thanks to everyone and we are happy for this award.”
Toure saw Ivory Coast make it all the way to the finals of the African Cup of Nations earlier in the season.. However, his side went on to lose against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Zambia-c3043 in the finals via a penalty shootout.
The player will be looking to redeem himself and his team this time around, as he hopes to prove to be the power house behind his national team’s rise to success.
At the same time, Toure is also looking to help City go on and retain their Premier League title. The team won the title for the first time in over forty years last season, and that has put the team on cloud nine.
So far this season the team hasn’t been able to make the most of things, but with Toure slowly but surely looking to pick his form up again, the team is bound to charge through the second half of the season and look to claim the title for the second year
on the run.
