So for a while now, I have been having like these leg twitches. Like I will be watching a movie and then my leg will like kick or twitch. And other times my shoulder will twitch also. Sometimes I squint my eye to and not know I'm doing it. And lately, I will be walking around and all of a sudden I will almost like chuckle or I will grunt. Also I stammer a lot when I talk. Sometimes I am mouthing words without any sounds and then my voice will finally kick in and its loud. Could I have Tourettes syndrome? Also, I have OCD

  1. yes ,

  2. I think you would know if you had tourettes.

From reading your post, I don't think you do.

You say you do things like "squinting your eye" without knowing you're doing it. Most tourettes behavior is very impulsive and hard to control. It doesn't really slip out, but more so, is very hard to hold back and repress.

What happens if you don't give in to those urges? Have you tried going without squinting your eye or twitching your leg or grunting? Try holding it in. Is there a buildup, and then a release after you give in to the "tick" ? If yes, I'd consider going in for evaluation.

If you are concerned, you should go in for testing and evaluation, but from what you've posted here, I don't think Tourettes is the culprit.

  3. i think you (and others) would know if you had tourettes. and it wouldnt be something that you just got.

my cousin has it and he would just start barking and people with tourettes usually scream obscenities without meaning to. its more than just twitching.

your symptoms do sound bizarre though. if i was you, i would talk to a doctor, just in case.

  4. I think it sounds very much like tourettes.

One thing to keep in mind is that everybody with tourettes is a little bit different.  There are not two tourettics exactly the same, so if somebody says, well, this person did this and you don't, that doesn't mean anything.

I would recommend talking to your doctor about it.

  5. I'm not a doctor but that sounds a whole lot like Tourette's.
