Question:

Touring Kayak for use on white water ?

I would like to know if it is possible to buy a Kayak with ample storage for overnight trips, that is strong enough to cope with white water (up to grade 3)

Any advice would be appreciated.

  1. Have a look on the wavesport website, (main dealer in the UK is White Water Consultancy in Carmarthen).  If you want to stow tent etc then you would probably be looking at a creek boat or a river runner with a high volume.

I used to run a Big EZ, which is a great little playboat, and over volume for my weight so that I could stash more gear and still play.  The guys at WWC really know their **** and will be able to set you up with the best boat for your needs.

  2. The only boat that comes to mind is the Prijon Yukon Expedition.  It's long for a whitewater boat - but you could do seriously big water in it.   Better for a larger person, or a person hauling gear... check out the review:

It appears to have been discontinued, but you may see one used somewhere...  ?

Ooh!  Just saw this one too:

  3. In Whitewater shorter can be better but look at it this way, A rec kayak is like a board and a creek boat is like a log a log is going to be easier to roll. there for if you go over in your rec. Kayak you can't guarantee that you won't swim,

Some good creek boats are the Jackson kayak rocker series and the fun series also the heros are good boats. al try wave sport or dagger they also produce good river running a creek boats.
