Question:

Touring in Paris with a baby and a pram/stroller..?

We would be coming to paris with our 20mnths old kid.. And we were confused about choosing a pram/stroller which would suite that city.

Would it be easy to use a pram on the buses and trains of Paris.

Or do we need to fold it each and every time we get into a bus or a train or metro?

We have a big wheeled pram(which has a big basket, hood, etc) and a very simple pram(buggy).

Incase we need to fold it many times we would opt for the simple one otherwise the other one is good as it has its own advantages.

Kindly help with this..

Thankyou

  1. First of all let me tell you that french train stations and metro are full of stairs, do not count on there being elevators! Strollers are usually folded up on buses  and the child placed on the parents lap so the big wheeled pram is impossible don't even think of it . Another thing, the streets of Paris are just totally covered in dog ****!  I am not exaggerating, if you take a buggy be prepared to have to wipe dog mess off the wheels!  when i visit Paris i either use a very very light cheap buggy or better still a baby back pack.

  2. The metro is very tight even when its not busy. You won't be able to use a pram. Its tourist season, the streets are going to be crowded. My suggestions is use the stroller.

  3. Using a pram on Paris Metro? No way! Much too crowded! Most of the busses have automatic ramps that pop up and let you push the pram on the bus. The bus has a special place for prams in the middle. (It's a sort of european standard). I've seen it on 99% of busses.
