  1. That's anywhere, the U.S also.  Ban tourist from visiting your island.

  2. Interesting statement.  It is like saying eating causes dirty dishes..it does but you would not stop eating would you.

Same with Jamaica you would not want to stop tourism...because the massive amounts of people who make their living in that industry with not survive. And in the developing world when we say they won't survive we actually mean it.

So the issues are to be addressed by building infrastructure that helps support eco friendly methods of doing business.

  3. The pollution is PARTLY caused by tourists, but the vast reason is the government does minimum possible to control it and will not spend those tourist dollars to upgrade the system ( raw sewage plants ). Having said that, Jamaicans contribute ALOT to the situation, throwing trash out & onto streets, beaches, and rivers....run off of oils, grease & other polutants is widespread from washing of cars near streams & rivers.

How can it be brought down ? It never will if the mindset stays the same :-(

  4. Specifically, what type of pollutions? If it's human waste then it's the duty of the resorts to adequately dispose of it, if it's their cultural differences, acquired desires and lifestyles, how could they pollute us when it is our choice to accept or reject. If it's over populating, then this should be our job to provide a number of similar and different attractions across the island so that our visitors won't be concentrated in one location. So how are they polluting Jamrock.
