  1. Were to begin? The geography of Peru is so diverse that you can encompass the world in that little country. You can go from scorching deserts to freezing tundra to wet jungle in just a few hours. also, the country is riddled with archeological remains from Inca and Pre Inca times.

Lets try a few archeological sites:

    From North to South,

Kuelap Fortress, one of the last remains of the fierece Chachapoyas culture (the name translates from quechua as the Cloud People).

The pyramids of Sican, Sipan and the capital city of the Chimu empire: Chan-Chan. These are between Lambayeque and Trujillo. The visit to the Museum of the Royal Tombs of Sipan in Lambayque is a must.

Chavin in Ancash, close to Huaraz. This area also holds some of the most breathtaking views of the Andes. Visit Huascaran Park.

At Paramonga you have the old Paramong Fortress (Inca).

Further south is "Lachay" which is an ecosystem which exists solely on the mist that blow in from the sea.

then in Lima you have Colonial Downtown, the Huacas (Like Pucllana and Pan de Azúcar). a visit to Larco Mar, especially if it is a sunny day, would be a good idea. Then there is the old pre-Inca temple of Pachacamac in Lurin, the outskirts south of Lima.

As you move south through the coast, you reach Cañete, were you can take adetour to Lunahuana, main area of rafting, mountain biking in Peru. further South you reach Chincha, were you will find the old "Hacienda San Jose" founded in 1688 and now a hotel. You will also find nearby the huacas ("huaca" was the name given by the Incas to Holy Places, but in spanish it has come to mean the adobe pyramids build by incas and pre-incas in the coast of Peru) "Centinela", "Tambo de Mora" and "La Cumbe". Close to Ica you can take a detour into the Andes to visit "Tambo Colorado", believed to be an outpost and customs office of the Incas in the road from the coast ot Cuzco. As you move further south through the coast you reach "Puerto Inca" (Inca Port) were the Incas obtained all the fish that was later taken to Cuzco. There is also the white stone building of Arequipa City as well as its volcano, the Misti, and the Colca Canyon.

I've only touched on things that are on the coast or close to it. There is also plent to see in the Andes (Cuzco, Ollantaytambo, The urubamba Sacred Valley, the churches at Ayacucho City, the Titicaca Lake (highest navigale lake in the world). Finally, there is the jungle and Tarapoto, Pacaya Samiria, El Manu, etc.
