  1. The Mormon Temple is nice.  The Salt Lake itself is badly polluted.  When I was there there were so many flies on the water I thought the blackstuff was beach debris.

The Mormon history is interesting but for me the more beautiful part are the Wasatch mountains.  I witnessed my first avalanche there, my first badger and my first rock slide.

  2. Depends on what you are looking for and the time of year.  Park City is an amazing tourist spot as well as most all the mountain resorts. Snowbird is great year round.  Venturing out of SLC you can hit gambling in wendover (90 minutes) or explore Arches, Zion, canyon lands etc...(3-4 hours away).  If you are looking for a great bar you can never go wrong with Port O' Call

  3. Visit the City Library.  It is the most amazing architectural place I've ever been too.  And it's not like you have to be quiet and study, they have shops and a coffee place and you can go up to the rooftop and just be amazed. :)

You can also get a tour of Temple Square, which includes the Mormon Temple and such.  It's a very nice tour, and I believe it's either free or pretty cheap.

Salt Lake City is such a great place, and you can take the metro for free as long as you stay within the downtown stops. :)
