Tourist with a US citizen baby?

i gave birth in california last feb '08. im planning to go back to the states next month (NJ). would there be any prob once i get to the immigration because my baby is a citizen and im just a tourist in the country?

  1. If you do owe the hospital, it is quite possible that they reported you to customs and immigration, in which case you may have a hard time. You should contact the billing office of the hospital and make some payment arrangements with them. Very often they will even forgive part of the debt. You need to think realistically, you were a visitor in the US and when you left you burdened the US taxpayers with your unpaid bills. A visa is a privilege, not a right. Your baby can enter freely, but under the circumstances that would be difficult.

        Contact the hospital and work something out with them.


  2. Just make sure that you did not owe the hospital or use public funds for the baby. If you dont owe anything you will be fine.

  3. Your child's citizenship has no bearing on your eligibility to enter the country, provided you possess a valid visitor's visa.
