Question:

Tourists in Ireland?

It seems in the last few years everyone I know is going to Ireland for a vacation (they all like it). And I'm always seeing things on tv about going to Ireland. Has it always been such a big vacation country, or is this a new thing?

  1. It's always been pretty important - tourism is the highest contributor to Ireland's GDP now - but numbers are increasing. More people are travelling into and out of Ireland, and they're spending more money while doing so. The CSO link below has actual statistics, and if you probe far enough they're really, really detailed. There's also more information, reports etc in the other two links if you're interested.

  2. It's realitively old! People that moved from Ireland or that had ancestors from Ireland come over to trace their roots and such....

  3. Ireland has always been a great place to visit. It has history, it has great scenery and since the Troubles stopped in Ulster there's another part of the isl;and to visit that is even more stunning than the rest of the island.

  4. yes ireland is a lovely place lovely scenery, castles, citys, people, museums, zoos, factorys that make beer china glass, an ucan visit all these places would really recomend it but between may to august as that the best weather

  5. yeah it is still very popular unfortunatly the people in the service industry doesn't help as they can be quite rude compared to the states but once you get out in the lovely green fields and visit all our beautiful landmarks and places of interest u will forget about the poor/mediocre service

  6. everyone is looking for their roots.... i guess they figure their ancesters left them behind just for the record we havn't seen any!
