Towing A Boat?

What will i need to tow a 18 foot inboard fiberglass boat from arkensas to alabama? Besides a car a hitch and ball and wires.

  1. Ummm...gas,food,drink,decent vision,decent co-ordination and some loose cash.


  2. Make sure you carry a spare tire, so you don't end up leaving the rig on the side of the road on a jackstand, like lots of peopole seem to.  Flares are a good idea too.  Flashlights if you're traveling at night.

  4. 1.You may also want to cover the boat or be sure and remove anything that might fly out of the boat.  

    2.Make sure the bearings on the boat's trailer are greased.  

    3.Tow straps to hold down the rear of the boat are a good idea to prevent the boat from shifting on the trailer.  

    4.Safety chains (required by law I believe) if the trailer does not already have them

  6. A trailer might help. Having a proper tow vehicle will too. You might need permits too depending on the width.
