Question:

Townhouse Problems?

We had recently bought a brand new townhouse 4 months ago and have encountered several problems.

The floorboards between 2 bedrooms are extremely noisy, making it easy to wake up the person in the next room. Even if they were to fix it, we don't know how they will.

Our main bathroom sink leaks.

A while ago when they fixed the pipe outside our house, they had hammered our wall in a bit. It is approximately the size of a nickel and is cracked but not broken.

We have asked our neighbors and no one else seems to have creaky floorboards.

We do not know if we should file a lawsuit against the building company, because we were promised a top-notch home, but did not expect so many flaws. Also, if they were to fix these, it would interfere with our lifestyle.

If you know how to deal with this situation, please help.

  1. call a local lawyer and get free advice from them, it will be a lot of help, sorry im not much help but thats what i would suggest

  2. You need to contact the contractor who built the house and ask them to fix these problems.  If he doesn't, then you can file a small claims case, but it will be difficult to prove that you are owed anything.  As for repairs disrupting your life, all household repairs disrupt your life.  That is a fact of home ownership.  But you have the choice between being disrupted for a few days, or for the rest of your life in that house.
