What are the odds of getting toxoplasmosis during pregnancy and what are symptoms?

  1. I don't know about the odds exactly, I know they're very low in the US, something like 1 in 1000. Your chances of getting it are increased if you consume raw or undercooked food and/or own a cat who goes outside. You also increase your chances of complications if you handle a cat's litter box.

  3. I don't know the symptoms.  But as long as you make sure the meat you eat is cooked all the way and if you change cat boxes wash your hands after wards.  I changed my cat's box my whole pregnancy, and I never got toxoplasmosis.  (I washed my hands after i did it each time)

The odds are very slim as long as you don't clean a litter box, don't go digging out in the sand or dirt outside where outside cats may have use the restroom or if you have always been around cats so you may have been exposed as a child and built up an immunity against it.  Also you should make sure that all meats you eat are properly cooked.
