Toy suitable for a two year old girl?

Question

I'm buying a birthday present for my two year old niece, but I don't have kids that age or girls and I don't know what she would be up to developmentally.

What can I get her that would be suitable, but not boring, like building blocks?

Well i have a 4 year old boy and he still plays with building blocks. Building blocks are definatly not boring to a 2 year old, its what they should be playing with at that age to help them develope.

You caoul buy her a remote controle car, if your from england look in  the argos or toys r us, they have 'my first remote controle car'. We got my son one for his 2nd b'day, you can buy girls ones.

Other things 2 year olds would be interested in:

Fifi

In The Night Garden

Teletubbies

Thats all i can think of because i only see boy stuff on the t.v my son takes over in that department. lol.

when you are in stores they have age recommendations on toys for young kids and toddlers.

you can't go wrong with dora or teddy bears.

or a few dollar store coloring books and kid safe crayons

Anything age-suitable from LeapFrog.  Noise-making stuff is the best.  Especially for a niece or nephew.  It's like annoying your siblings without even being there!!!

Dexterity toys are great for toddlers. Also consider role playing toys where the child's imagination can be developed.
