  1. I have to agree with the first comment.  If you are looking for a great car with amazing speed and torque look to get a Rear Wheel Drive.  However, the Toyota Celica can be modified to give you a good bit of horsepower which may in turn surprise your fellow "racers".

The last year of the Toyota Celica was 2005, however the body style was the same from 2000-2005, so if you are looking for a cheaper model I'd go with a 2000.

I currently drive a 2000 Toyota Celica Gt. It looks great but sucks in terms of HP.
My current stock motor produces about 140HP, and even after installing a Turbo only the HP wouldn't be what I was looking for.  It would only bring my HP close to the standard GTS model of about 180HP, which any "real" car enthusiast knows anything below 200HP is just pathetic.

After doing some research I found the perfect motor for my car was actually one built a few years before my car was brought to light  The Toyota Celica GT-Four has a ST205 motor and produces 255HP. (max)  They are somewhat hard to find considering the ST205 was never released in the United states.

The set up is pretty easy. The motor is a simple swap as the cars all share the same chassis. As I stated previously, I first considered installing a turbo but soon realized it may be cheaper to simply buy a used motor and have someone install it.  Roughly costing 3500-4500$ a Turbo was somewhat of a reasonable choice, however, I can purchase a used motor, transmission, ECU, clutch and anything associated with the engine, and have it installed for 3350-3550$ and get 255HP (Max)

Seems like a no brainier to me :)

If I were you and you follow through with your car purchase, I'd look into getting an ST205 Motor from a Celica GT-Four or MR2.  Good Luck, and stay safe out there.
