  1. I've averaged 52mpg over 11k miles in my '07

  2. 62 MPG, from Port Jefferson on Long Island to LaGuardia Airport in NYC and back.

  3. 50mpg if I really try (go real easy on the throttle, maximize coasting and minimize braking).

    46mpg when I drive normally.

I don't have the patience, so most of the time I drive normally.

    Things that will kill a Prius's MPG's:

    - Short trips (less than 5 miles),

    - Violent driving habits (jackrabbit starts and hard braking),

    - Very cold weather (it becomes hard to keep the engine warmed up, since it's not running all the time while the car is being driven).

    - Sustained speeds above 70mph due to increased air resistance.

  4. I get a solid 44 mpg on the 14 mile daily commute to work and back.

Best I have ever gotten was a 60mpg on a 20(ish)-mile run from the foothills down to downtown Los Angeles and back on surface streets.

Most of my driving is in hilly terrain on surface streets and my overall average is in the low-to-mid 40s.
