  1. You are considering the wrong hybrid.  The Prius isn't anywhere near a "luxury car" like the Bentley.

If you want a luxury hybrid, you should be considering a hybrid from Toyota's luxury line, such as the Lexus LS600h--  That's the hybrid that belongs in the "price doesn't matter" category, not the Prius.

  2. Prius-Good on gas, reliable, smooth ride.

Bently-Fast, luxurious, AWD, 198 mph top speed, real acceleration.

  3. haha...bentley

  4. Wow, can't get much more of a differing comparison...

You don't say what model Bentley that you are looking at.

The cheapest seems to be the Continental Flying Spur, with a starting MSRP at $170,990.  I hope that you don't mind paying for Premium fuel, and at a fuel economy of 10MPG city and 17MPG highway you'll be using a lot of it.  (The vehicle is subject to a US Federal Gas Guzzler tax, too!)

Expect higher insurance costs on this expensive luxury model, and difficulty getting it repaired (dealer-only, difficult to obtain new/used parts due to low production volumes, etc.).

Or what option package of the Toyota Prius that you are looking at:

But the starting MSRP is $21,500.

Uses regular gasoline, and is currently the most fuel-efficient vehicle sold in the US, at 48MPG city/45MPG highway.  Also is one of the cleanest emission vehicles on the market, rating an AT-PZEV in California-emission states (90percent cleaner than the average car, with zero evaporative emissions and a long warranty).

Some insurance companies will even give you a discount for a hybrid car.  As this model is Toyota's 3rd best-selling car in the US, parts are not a problem, and you can have any competent mechanic (not just your dealer) work on it.

If you want a noisy-sounding car, go with an 8 to 12 cylinder Bentley model.  If you want quiet, go with the Toyota Prius.

If you want to show off how much money you used to have (before you bought the car), go with the Bentley.  If you want to show off that you are environmentally-aware, or just want to blend in with all the other cars, then go with the Toyota Prius.

How much interior space do you want?

model, size class, passenger volume (cu. ft.) + luggage volume (cu. ft.)

    Bentley Continental GTC, subcompact, 86 + 7

    Bentley Azure, compact, 93 + 9

    Bentley Brooklands, compact, 97 + 11

    Bentley Continental GT, compact, 89 + 11

    Toyota Prius, midsize, 96 + 16

Bentley Continental Flying Spur, midsize, 102 + 13

    Bentley Arnage, midsize, 104 + 13

    Bentley Arnage RL, large, 111 + 13

Do you prefer a trunk (Bentley), or would you prefer a more versitile hatchback (Prius)?

What are your winter driving skills like?

The Toyota Prius is a FWD vehicle.

The Bentley Arnage, Azure, Brooklands are RWD vehicles.

The Bentley Continental Flying Spur, GT, and GTC are AWD vehicles.
