It's a used car so I don't know if this is the way it should go or not. When I turn the key in the ignition the engine starts but dies if I don't give it gas. Somebody told me that older cars dont have fuel injection or some other thing so I have to give it a lil gas when I start it. So I do this and when I start it it runs for a while with me steadily giving it gas not reving it too high and then it starts to stall so I give it more gas to save it and and up saving it 2 or 3 times in total. Is that normal? Should I let it die and try again? Rev the **** out of it when I start it up? Periodically rev it as I start it up? In all it takes about a min before I feel safe the car will not die on me as I drive away. The car works fine otherwise.

So is this normal or am I doing something wrong here?

  1. Well this sounds like the car needs some TLC... you might want to start be checking the Fuel filter as this might be clogged... thus straining the fuel to the engine... you might also need to change the rotor/cap/spark plugs/wires,- a TUNE UP!

This car might even need a cold start injector replaced...but start at the less expensive points first...

you car should not act that way when you try starting it...

    best wishes.
