can't do that in the US because the oil companies are preventing Hydrogen supply station. Has anyone heard more about this?

  1. An hydrogen station can sell hydrogen produced from ammonia...

    It can buy ammonia etc...

Hydrogen from ammonia is more cheap than the equivalent oil...

Also ammonia can be produced directly from cheap cheap cheap cheap WIND...

  2. I haven't heard anything about this, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if it were true

  3. They're not this close to commercially making hydrogen fuel cell cars. There's still a lot of technology that needs to be improved, mostly with the electron transport membranes so that they last more than a year.

It's a long way off, they have made prototypes however than can go 300+ miles, but then you will need filling stations.

Also, wind energy is cheap, if it's EXCESS energy. Because winds can be so variable, people need to rely on coal or nuclear which can provide a known amount of energy. If the winds are good, there might be good cheap wind energy that can be used to make hydrogen. exactly

  4. The oil companies? How are they stopping it? I have watched the progress of Hydrogen and not ever heard of the oil companies having anything to do with it. Could it be that it just has not been cost-effective?

Sorry, but Wind power is NOT cheap cheap. It is higher than the normal grid unless subsidized. The primary reason is initial cost/Megawatt is higher, and the wind does not always blow at the required 6-8 MPH minimum to produce any power. Don't get me wrong, I love Wind and Solar. I just want people to get the facts.

  5. their might be a lot more to this picture than meets the eye --the storage of hydrogen is a risk most city's are not ready for if any accident happened it would be deadly so say the least-hydrogen is hundreds of times more explosive than gasoline

  7. False.

In fact, there are hydrogen stations in southern California, which is what's allowing Honda to lease some FCX Clarity fuel cell vehicles there.  The stations are run by Shell - an oil company.

However, hydrogen fuel cells have serious problems to overcome.  Just for starters, the Clarity will be leasing for $600/month.  See the link below for details.
