I am ashamed to say that I will soon have about 700 dollars in slightly used toys sitting in my attic soon. Should this stuff go to poor mexican children? Would they like it? be offended in some strange way? Does the average child in Mexico have anything near what we have? This christmas, my son got a trunk and backseat full of plastic toys from the family. This is way too much...it won't get used that much and it will go in storage within a year. I live about 3.5 hours from the border and I think I could organise something pretty big.

  1. Better to give them to US charities, like Salvation Army. There are organizations who come to Baja each year for a toy delivery, all new and wrapped. They are greatly appreciated.

  2. Welllll..........uhhhh mexicans can be very proud....sooo they could get offended...and they wouldn't accept them....soo idk how you would be able to give them to them without offending them....

  3. A lot of people here in Mexico (i am mexican) use to buy used toys and clothes in places we name "tianguis" or "segundas" (something like swap meets in US). So i dont see the reason why a mexican poor child could get offended if you are giving him a toy. I´m sure he will smile to you and run and show his "new" toy to his brothers and friends. It would be a nice gesture from you in doing that...

(I apologize for my English... still learning)

  4. I am an american living in Mexico and believe the toys would be greatly appreciated.  The big gift giving day in Mexico is the day of the Kings...Jan. 6.  could you do as one other pwerson suggested and find an American charity that could bring them down and distribute them?  Many churches also sponser missions and/or missionaries in Mexico that could use them.
