Trac down cherokee indians any percent?

i live in michigan and i am trying to trac down any cherokee indians so that i may ask for some advice such as

1.if i cant prove that my grandmother was 100% cherokee she died in 1969

2.what and how do i go about getting a dna done to prove it and is it really needed ?

3. will dna really help me

4. how do i find a tribe, band or pow wow of interest in michigan

5. i have heard my grandprenst may have met in kansas lived in arizona and ended in michigan (owosso and davison area)

6.for the record my dad does not know if he is indian ( i just dont know how one can go all their lives and not know ) i know i am 39 and just doing it and it is bothering me that i did not do it sooner then now maybe every one would remember something thanks guys happy easter!!!

On my fathers side his mom was full Cherokee.On my mothers side her mom was 1/2 Cherokee.So what percentage am I?Yes DNA should help if they have blood DNA of any relative that is Cherokee.They should have a local chapter in your state just check it out on the Internet.Good luck in finding out your true heritage.
