This will depend on your reason to wanting to trace the number.

If its a business as someone has said - use one of the many Direct Enquiry sites, some of them will work in reverse.

If you are received calls that you do not want then you need to make a complaint to the police and your service provider. You can also get services such as caller display, and choose to refuse  - these will cut down on calls getting to you and will show you the number of who's calling is it's available.
