Tracing A Horses Brand?

Question

Just purchased a Australian Stock Horse Mare who is branded 5/0 on the right shoulder...so she was born in 2000.

On her left shoulder she has the brand KSH.

My question is where would i find out information as i purchase her from a family who had bought her from the knackery.

contact your local board of agriculture. all brands have to be registered through the agriculture board to make sure no two farms are using the same one. they can point you in the right direction, or at least give you more information about who to contact to find out who the brand is registered to. (i live in the US and i'm not familiar with australian governing agencies)
