  1. 200 mile? thats crazy.... that will take like 3249832904832 years.... u cant hold ur breath that long

    lawl

  2. practicing breathing hard.

    streach your lungs.

    helps alot.

  3. Holding your breath or not in a 200m race will not make any difference in how tired you actually get.

You really should be breathing while running any race. In the 200m, your body actually isn't using oxygen at all. Your muscles are fed by other forms of energy. But you must still breathe to keep yourself relaxed. Holding your breath is a tense activity and will slow you down.

This is how you can fix this:

"Runners take your mark" - as you get into your blocks breathe normally.

"Set" - As you come set, inhale deeply (but not quickly) and hold.

"BANG!" - Come out of your blocks, still holding your breath. This allows you to fully exert yourself during your drive phase.

15-20 meters - Exhale forcefully as you end your drive phase and begin sprinting.

20 to finish - Continue to breathe. In through the nose and out the mouth is usually recommended but it really doesn't make that much of a difference in a race this short.

  4. Uhmmm....why? I used to hold my breath during the 100 and 200 but, I wasn't trying to. It was just something that I did. Once I was aware it was a hard thing to change especially when I want to win bad. It is not something that you want to able to do.

  5. Wow you must be talented! Running a whole 200 miles is tough... but DANG running the whole thing without any oxygen getting to your muscles and without getting tired is a miracle!!!

Nevermind Allyson Felix... your my new hero!!!

  6. I am assuming you mean 200 meters.  I Do not recommend  holding your breath .Breathe in through your nose and out through mouth. When i do a 200 meter dash i breath in twice and out once. May not work for you but thats my strategy and i never get tired.
