Track Times?

I'm a 8th grade boy and I ran a 57 second 400 meter at our conference meet on a 400 meter track. Earlyer in the year, on a 200 meter track on grass, i ran a 2:30 800 meter. That was my first time doing the 800, and i havn't done it since. So i believe i can improve that time by a lot. My question is, are these times good? How good? What type of portential do I have? College schlarship? Any imformation please!

  1. my first time running the 400m was when i was a junior in high school and got 57 seconds and in one year ive gotten down to 52.9 (good enough for div II states in MA) if i started earlier i couldve had a better time but in your case you still have 4 years of high school doing track so you deffinately have a lot of potential but for a college scholarship you might have to get down to about 50 or even lower

  2. no to college scholarship

Not bad times, u'll be competitive

  3. Hey...just some info...I'm a junior who runs a 2:03..a few colleges (not big ones but nonetheless colleges) checking me out. When i was in 8th grade I ran a 2:30...Keep that in mind and keep up that hard work and go hard in practice, you'll see colleges lined up to look at you ;)

  4. Yeah there very good because i won my league 400m, but I had to run a 53.8, to clinch it keep practicing and never give up!

  5. That's an excellent 400m time for someone your age, as you can only improve as you get more competitive in high school.

  6. Those arnt bad times for 8th grade. They are mediocre, but thats not bad cuz atleast they arnt horrible. So you have the potential to get a college scholarship as long as you work hard for your 4 years of highschool..So the times arnt amazing, but they are a good start

  7. College scholarship- no. But you could have some kind of future. I'm 7th grade, I run a 54 about. And a 2:27 800m. You have some potential in highschool. Good luck!

  8. 57 400 is pretty good for a 8th grader, and 2:30 is actually quite impressive, im a sophomore and 2:30 is my PR in that event, but im more of a 2 miler too. Keep at it you've got some skill behind you.

  9. Your 400 time is excellent even if you were in high school, and your 800 is also good, but not as good. I think you have excellent potential, and you can definitely improve your 800 time.

  10. Those are pretty good. Keep working on improving them and you could be a great mid-distance runner.
