  1. Do a lot of repetitions at full speed during your training at a distance slightly over what you run. you'll get stronger and faster at the longer distance which will translate into a faster speed at the 100m leg of your race. If your school has weight machines, get on those, as well, and concentrate on doing a variety of leg lifts to strengthen your muscles.

  2. Train.

  3. try your best to get a good start or if yer in the middle a good hanoff u should be right inbetween the arrows when she hands it to u and on that u should wait until she is about 4 feet behind u then start sprinting hard because she shouldn't be tired. i run with lots of good girls and im not too fast but control your breathing and eat right and train and you'll do fine.

  4. Well, you don't really need to be AS fast as them considering that your coach or something did put you in the 4x1. I don't know what leg of the relay you are running but this is the suggested order of the runners.

    1st leg - second fastest

    2nd leg - third fastest

3rd leg - slowest of the group

4th leg - fastest of the group

All it takes is just good practicing with your coach and hoping that your coach knows what he is doing. My coach is pretty experienced and has taught at college level but is now teaching at high school level. I'm on the JV 4x1 team and I run the 2nd leg. The relay is pretty intense and goes by very fast. Just practice getting handoffs because they are crucial in determining the lead and falling behind. Have fun.
