I suggest the Escort. It will be a more romantic end.

The Escort is the only rear-wheel drive one in your list.  Get a good engine in it, an it will be more fun that anything front wheel drive!

Better yet, I have an Alfa-Romeo 75 TwinSpark, which are still used by the Nurburgring Race School (Alfa 75 Experience) as they are fast and agile, with classic 50:50 weight balance. Get one while you still can, there aren't too many about.

Get the Escort if you can afford it (and if you can handle RWD - amazingly, youngsters are never learning the joy of oversteer):  I've seen them selling for £30,000 or more - ten years ago, you couldn't give them away!

If you want a FWD, in standard spec the Golf handles better and the Honda's probably a bit quicker in a straight line - but who takes a standard car to a track day?

CRX would be very easy to get power out of, and it wouldnt be hard to even fling a bigger engine into

its also simple to get good handling out of it, with a plethora of parts easily available

only downside is its FWD....
