  1. Depending where you live,Donnington Park or Mallory Park both have track days and will teach you all you need to know,I have done medical cover for both although I prefer Donnington as its a GP track,Good luck hope you enjoy it.

  2. Most tracks have a day set aside for beginners.  You should make sure that you go on the day that best matches your ability.  But I defiantly recommend going to a track day, it will improve your riding skills more in one day at the track then 6 months of riding on the rode.

  3. I would just make sure they understand your skill level first.

  4. Well, your not going to "learn motorcycle stuff" if you don't do some track time.

Over here on the west side of the 'pond', I've done about eight or nine track days.  My first track day was my first time on a track ever.  It was a eye-opener for me as well as a learning experience.

Some things to expect from yourself and from others at a track day:

Don't expect to be doing low ground maneuvers like Rossi or Hayden on your first day (or even your tenth day for that matter).  Take it slow and get a feel for the track.

Expect to be passed by others.  They know you're new and will give you room and try not spook you.

Expect to be coached by "control riders" about things to work on that will help you improve and enjoy your track time more.

    Expect to make new friends!

Expect to have lots of Fun!

And the biggest warning of all....

Expect to become throughly addicted to track days and motorcycle riding/racing and spending lots of money.

So my answer in short is Yes.  Do a track day.  Tell the 'control riders' that you are new and you want some help.  Any reputable track day organization should be more than happy to follow you and instruct you on what to work on.

Most amateur racers have lives and careers outside of motorcycle racing.  They do it for the fun - not the money.  They want to see others come into the sport.  Let's face it, motorcycle racing is not mainstream and is a rather small share of the racing world's interest - especially here in the US.  Anything to grow the sport is to everyones benefit.

    Good luck!

  5. having some track day tuition will help you.

its a buzz riding around on the track.

    enjoy and ride safe.

  6. Don't get the question - do you have your licence?  Can you ride a bike?  You talking about racing or off road?  Do you just want some bike experience?

  7. They teach you everything you need to know at all levels.

It's good fun and you learn a lot that is useful on the road.
