Track n field how to Train Endurance for 200m sprint?

I am doing the 4x200m relay. My team has the best time so far.. but only by 2 seconds. I want to GUARantee our chance at first place. I'm starting off for my team.. so I run with the baton first.

I'm quite fast.. but after the first 100m, I tend to slow down.. the rest of the way seams soo hard. Like I just can't go any faster. The last time I did 200m.. it felt like I couldn't breathe while running the last 50m. I want to train my endurance so I will be able to sprint my fastest for a longer period.

Any tips would be helpful.

  1. alright homie when you run the 200 you need to not come out the blocks so fast just about 80 percent and when you come the start away that is when you need to hit that second gear. Also when you are on the curve make sure you are really close to the inside of the line but make sure you dont get out your lane

  2. You can't do much in one week, try to work on your form. When you come off the curve stand up tall, relax, keep you arms moving and your stride length long.

You are going at top speed and can not run any faster, and if you try to run faster you are slowing down from tension.

If you want to do intervals you should be doing repeat 250 meters, try 4x250 with 3 minutes rest.

If you team is only 2 seconds faster than the others that is a very long distance in the 4x200.

  3. I was the same - I could only really sprint for the first 100m, but then I started doing some distance work, only like a mile and now I beat everyone.
