Track season is over and I ran the mile in a best 5:18. Hopefully, by the start of next track season (or possibly beginning of school year) I hope to be around 5:00 or under.

Anyway. Would it be a good Idea to rest about 3 days (my meet was saturday; today is monday) with some cross training and then take it easy but still run for about 2 to 3 weeks and make sure my body is 110% recovered before I starte the real training in the summer.

BTw I realize that taking time off doesnt do any good, but I mean to rest and heal and still be active. Also, I plan to run this whole year

  1. I'm going to start running over the summer too. I don't know if it would be the best way for me to train, but I'm just going to start running like 2 miles a day until that gets easy then go up to about 4 a day and keep going up until I get to about 10 miles a day or so

  2. typically you should stiil be in the same shape u were in during the season for a 3 ways  with no running to acheive a pr in the mile u need to run much more than (5 miles) that LIFT WEIGHTS also run hills trust me they help run cross country

  3. your pretty fast..you would have won state for some classes in this state....heres my times http://ga.milesplit.us/athletes/185054   disregard the 800 though lol......you should probably run everyday..10 mile run then 5 miles then 10 then 5 like that
