We all know bikes get stolen often and we all know that thieves can get through chains. Is there a sort of tracking device you can put on your bike incase some one steels it much like those on cell phones or vehicles?

just go to ur local bike shop and ask them for a good strong lock

  2. You can track anything these days.  Don't remember the correct term right now, but check with any retailer bike supplier.  They will be able to help for sure.

  3. Not only is it expensive (several hundreds), but you need to pay monthly fees to a company, sometimes up to $40 a month. At that price, you can afford to get a new bike each year.

Get a U-Lock. Not a cable, not a small chain, a U-Lock. There are big chains and U-Locks available that can give you very good peace of mind, but you actually need to find a balance between what you need, and the extra weight you want to carry.

I usually carry a Kryptonite cable and a very solid higher end U-Lock. The cable loops in the wheels and the lock gets the frame. Otherwise, you just have to live with the risk.

  4. Use Lojack. But is it worth the cost? Decide for yourselves.
