Question:

Tractor drivers??

This morning, I left my home in good time for work. It was just after 8am and the rush hour had started. I live on a main road which is incredibly busy as it runs between 2 towns. As I started off down the road I saw a tractor. As usual it was only doing about 20 mph, which although was a bit frustrating didn't really bother me, as I was sure he would be turning into a field or down a side road at some point. I couldn't believe it when I followed it the whole way down the main road into town. Because it was the rush hour, there was a huge back log of traffic behind him. I thought it was bad manners and incredibly selfish that he should cause such a back log and also hold people up. I understand perfectly that Farmers work very hard and need to be on the road with their tractors, but isn't there a law that says that they aren't allowed on main roads at peak time? It is also dangerous as people try overtaking.

  1. I think you are supposed to honk then give the driver the finger.  If that doesn't work, ram the tractor til you car is destroyed, the tractor driver still won't notice you ever existed.

  2. Really it's okay that it occurred. It's what you make of the situation. As it may occur again. The driver will probably have a mental note of what happened and may choose to attempt to drive at a different time next time. But it could have been a first time experience for the driver, or someone paid to move it (during those hours), in any case it's okay. The road should be shared with bicyclists and tractors alike, we make room and adjustments for the variety life has to offer us. Don't let it spoil your day. In any case the driver, especially if it was you, feels that he shouldn't have to stop his work for the popularity of cars, after all he may have been doing it all these years. I'm sure it wasn't on I-95 or anywhere near a highly busy city, so take that into consideration. Anyway simply taking the slow break and telling your check-in point (supervisor, friend) that... hey there was a tractor... and move on! lol... your boss should understand. life shouldn't be clockwork.. everyday in 24 hour perfect cycles. no job should require that... i know it's important but the 8 hours should be flexible. Life happens. All highly professional leaders know this. It's the small stuff. We need to reserve that leadership time to tackle tough problems rather than choose to nit pick on the nature of life that happens all around us to everybody.
