Trade-In Credit?

I just recently turned 18 and wanted to replace my truck with a sporty car to combat these gas prices. I have my eyes on a 2005 manual mustang at a dealer about 70 miles from my town. My question was, how much trade-in credit do you think I can get on my 99" Ram 1500 4x4 v8 Ext. Cab? It also has a hard tonneau cover and a $300 "smart" light bar above the bumper. It's a plasmaglow light bar if anyone if familer with the product.

  1. Also try http://www.kbb.com Kelley Blue Book quote on your car... a dealership (sounds like a Ford)... usually uses KBB.... but... to tell you honestly you won't get that price for your truck... you can probably get a better deal selling it on forums like http://www.craigslist.org for the price or ebay.com

Good luck... Mustangs are great cars especially anything from '00 and up!

  2. As it is a truck, and trucks are not desirable now, as they use lots of fuel (as you know, which is why you are getting rid of it) you will find that most dealers will only offer a very low trade for it.

It will be hard to resell and a dealer will be hesitant to take it unless it is for a very low price.

  3. You will get market value for your truck, the market value on trucks is very low.  kelly blue book is a joke.  The value that KBB gives is going to be much nigher then reality.  Nada is better, but on a truck it will not be accurate, plus the dealer has a nada that they pay for every month and it is much different then nada.com.  It would not surprise me if you get half of what nada says it is worth.  It is a truck and no dealer wants one.
