Trade possible for New York Mets’ Carlos Beltran when regular season starts again – MLB News
It is assumed that the New York Mets’ right-fielder, Carlos Beltran could be traded when the second half of the regular season begins. He was the only player in the All-Star Game, who wore the Mets’ uniform, as the rest of the players were out of the selecting
competition.
The latest predictions are that he has the ability to play for every team because he depends mostly on his natural game. The 34-year-old veteran played his debut game for the Kansas City Royals in 1998 and stayed with them for almost six years. He re-signed
his agreement with the Royals due to his exemplary batting average.
He also won the American League Rookie of the Year Award during batting at Number three spot. Then in 2004, he inked a one-year contract with the Houston Astros and gave them crucial wins to prove his position in the Astros’ roster. During the 2004 MLB Playoffs,
Beltran broke the single postseason record of Barry Bonds by hitting eight home-runs.
Beltran said, “I went through this before in the past in 2004 when I was with the Royals. I guess that experience makes you understand the business side of baseball a little better. You can't take it personally.”
At the end of 2004 season, Beltran was acting as a free agent and wanted to join the New York Yankees but they did not fulfil his demands, worth $19-million. Then, the Mets signed a big deal of seven years with Beltran which had worth $119-million and it
was considered as the biggest agreement in the franchise history.
Beltran achieved a milestone of 1000 hits during 2009 against the Washington Nationals by taking a triple. He joined the All-Star team for the fifth time and expressed his excitement and said, “I'm just thrilled and happy, so I'm going to enjoy it. I'm just
going to come here, have fun and enjoy being around so many good ballplayers, sharing the same clubhouse.”
Speaking to reporters, the Giants’ manager, Bruce Bochy said, "He's having a very fine year for the Mets. I saw firsthand; we just finished playing them. I had some other guys I would like to put out in right field, too, that's part of it.”
With 58 RBIs, 13 home-runs and a batting average of .285, Beltran made himself a strong contender for All-Star game. The National League’s managers decided that Beltran would come at Number two spot to face Jered Weaver of the American League. The decision
was taken by keeping an eye on last week’s performance of Beltran in a three-game series.
According to some rumours, the trading deadline for Beltran will be delivered in less than three weeks.
