Umberger or Upshall to the Sens for DMan Andrej Meszaros.Meszaros wants $13 million for 4 years(Don't we all) and perhaps Ottawa doesn't want to give it to him.He is a restricted free agent however as is RJ.

Good deal for either team if it happens?

  1. I really don't see the Flyers giving up Umberger...him and Biron were the reason they had such a good playoff run. Upshall is like cancer and in the Flyers can nab Andrej Meszaros for him...then the Flyers will be improving their line-up.

If the Flyers are dumb enough to shop around RJ...then i hope the Pens or Caps take a good look at him.

  2. To the first answer- Umberger had a streak, every player has streaks, RJ isn't that great of a player and will probably never do that again lol. And Scotty Upshall can go, not really a necissity to Philly.

i think it's a great deal for both, because i have always liked Mezaros and thought he was really good.

  3. I think the Sens could get more for Meszaros, but they are in a pinch capwise, aren't they?

  4. I do not think this trade will be a good one for the Flyers at all. Meszaros is a decent defenseman but he is not worth the trade of either Umberger or Upshall. Those two have much more upside and are worth much more than Meszaros . If this trade does happen it will only be good fr the Sens in my opinion not the Flyers

  5. get mezaros and say bye bye to upshall.. I like RJ too much.

In a totally hetro non-threatening sort of way

well, ya know... what can a guy do.

    right, sugarbums?

  6. I wouldnt like to see it. although we need a faster blue line i think we need upshall and umberger. upshall is my favorite player because i play like him and i know a lot of people have their doubts about him but i think the flyers really missed him when he was hurt this season. he has pulled out some pretty important goals. i hope they dont trade him ....

  7. who knows??

  8. great deal for both... if i were philly i would just on that offer. Hes gonna be a good d-man, Hatchers legs wont last much longer

  9. Anything is possible, both the Flyers & Sens have made off the wall trades that put players back on the map in new homes....Just what the Devil's fan needs.....stronger Flyers.

  10. Hello there you nekked freak... LOL...

I dont know much about the specifics of this one, but I can tell ya that I didnt miss Scottie U till he was gone..  I figure RJ is gone either way..

BTW--- how long did they sign Hartnell and Kimmo for???

    Happy trails, Bud...

LOL-- Better hope Burt is still a good shot..

    Thanks Lubers... Wow-- that long..

  11. i dont think its really that good for either team

  12. I could care less whether it's a good deal for the Sens but I don't think it's bad for the Flyers.  Either of them are expendable for the right player IMO and given the rumors that they will not resign Jason Smith this move makes sense.  I am not surprised that they are shopping Upshall.  He was in Stevens doghouse for a bit and Downie would step into the role he fills although I don't know if he's ready for it full-time.  They are the same types of players and there is no better way to learn.  Umberger is the type of role player the Flyers like.  Unless they believe that they are not going to be able to afford him, of the two, I believe Upshall is more likely to be dealt.

Yesterday they traded Ryan Potulny for defenseman Danny Syvret.  It wouldn't surprise me if they make this move as well.  Paul Holmgren's short track record has been that he recognizes and addresses the teams short comings.  One of the major issues they faced through their playoff run was their defensemen.  That would give them Kimmonen, Coburn, Jones, Meszaros and Parent which makes for a pretty nice core.  They fill the 6th and 7th slots with some veteran journeymen or kids in the system and they are not in bad shape at all.

Copas: Both players are signed through 2013.
