  1. Most high schools have as part of their program work experience opportunities. You should approach a plumber or electrician about being able to do work experience with them so you get a taste of what is involved in the job.

If you still feel this is what you want to do then enquire at the Apprenticeship Board about the requirements needed to do an apprenticeship.

There are also TA FE courses that are part of the training. Enquire at your local TA FE as to their requirements.

The hardest part of getting an apprenticeship in these trades is actually finding a licenced plumber or electrician who wants an apprentice. Most these days need qualified people and so don't take on an apprentice as it is too much work and supervision.

You best way of getting hands on experience with tools of the trade is to befriend the local plumber or electrician and hang around with them.

Enrolling in a class at a TAFE for metal work or wood-working etc. will give you the familiarity of using tools.

  2. Hello. They have alot of courses in Tafe and college doing those area's you want as i have looked into it with my son. As long as you have a year 10 pass you can do it. To get into the work you want you have to go to Tafe first. I hope that helps. Just give them a ring. Take care and good luck...

  3. I suggest you first contact an Australian Apprenticeship Centre, their role is provide information and assistance to anyone seeking to enter an apprenticeship and have contact with employers  http://www.australianapprenticeships.gov...

They are also the organisation that then arranges the formalised training through TAFE or other RTOs

  4. yeah go to tafe they do a plumbing course two times a year it goes for 6months and when you have done that its cclassedas your 1st year done.

\then they find you an apprenticeship and you start as a second year apprentice.

i have done this course and its great.

you learn all the skills you need for the job..
