I have a '02 VW Jetta and trade in is $6700 and I'm looking at an 01 Dodge Grand Caravan for $4995. If I trade my car in for it will the dealer give me the difference? Or will they just call it even?

  1. If in fact the Jetta is worth more, of course they'll give you back the difference. However, you might think it's worth $6,700. and they think it's worth $5,700. It's all upon what you and the dealer agree to.

  2. it allll depends on the dealer

  3. actaully yes it will be even and they will prolly give u some money in cash...now why are u going lower?? u posed 2 be moving up not moving down but watever..

anyway yes i are getting a good deal

matter fact im trading but grand marquis in the trade in is $5,500 even tho i can sell it for 10,000 cuz i was still paying for it so they have 2 throw the other 5 on the other car which is the ranger which 11 plus 5 is 16

but im buying a ranger for 12.000 so im gonna have 2 pay 15,684 they say which is still good..

but u are getting a great price

  4. Depends on how much you owe on the jetta. If it is paid off, free and clear then yes they would possibly be looking at giving you the difference. Remember though, they are there to make money. They do not HAVE to give you that difference. They operate on the fact that most people trade up, or for something more expensive. My guess would be they would try to change the figures or try to push you into something more expensive. Or they will possibly say your jetta isn't worth that much to them. EVEN----- NO!!!!! You should definitely get a difference, the difference depending how much you can bargain with them. Take your information and figures with you to substatiate your desire. If they are real figures and not elevated, then a reputable company would probably give you the difference. Just remember--you do not have to buy at the first place you look. A smart shopper compares prices!!!!!!!!!  Check around!

    Good Luck!!!!

  5. You should sell the Jetta separately.  People are digging on the fuel-efficient cars, these days.  You should be able to easily find someone to pay much higher than a dealer.
